The curve of a stem, the undulating edges of a leaf, or the soft twist of a flower growing from a bud, influence the form of my ceramic work. As a child I lived in a coastal town in the south of Iran; a town surrounded by barren land with a harsh desolate coastline, here an acquaintance with plant forms was unusual. The pleasure of lush vegetation has remained important to me throughout my subsequent life.

I make vessels which are a response to both my love of clay and to the beauty of nature. My method of construction is complex, resulting in forms that have smooth sensuous interiors in contrast with the slashed, voluptuous form of the exterior. The layered glazes used are the results of extensive personal experimentation, lending a tactile quality to the work and inviting the viewer to caress the surface.
