Most forms are hand-coiled from white stoneware, and dishes press-moulded and refined using the same materials and techniques. Surfaces are sometimes coloured with slips, then usually burnished, bisque fired and then smoked in sawdust and paper to achieve surface patterns using a variety of masking techniques. Inspiration often comes from observing artefacts, ancient and new, or organic forms.
