My thrown pots are mostly individual pieces some are reshaped after throwing. I try to achieve a wholeness of form with upward growth from the base and seek an ideal balance which allows for wide rims and appendages.
I search for attractive surface qualities that harmonise with the different aspects of the form. Often I wedge oxides into the body. I work with stoneware and porcelain clays. I select, develop and make my own glazes and slips. I mainly fire in an electric kiln (oxidation atmosphere) but some work is reduction fired. At present I am working on a new series of imaginary bird forms
