Functional and sculptural porcelain and stoneware is fired to 1330C in a propane gas kiln. The oxygen level inside the kiln is monitored and controlled to give a wide range of glaze colours. I researched building materials for many years and published numerous technical papers before becoming a potter full-time in 2003. My focus is on glaze development and on ethnalogical, archealogical and sculptural resources to inform the design of functional and other pieces.
