I see my work as fitting in with the long line of ceramic history, such as porcelain figurines and Staffordshire flat-backs but with a contemporary edge.

I like the idea of ceremonial objects which have a function but are in themselves completely fanciful. The work is mainly figurative and often involves oppositional forces, exuberance and stillness, literalness and abstraction. I use many historical references and connections. There is a theatrical presence, characters in a drama, elements of adornment and doll-like postures.
