I am inspired by the primitive ceramic forms of antiquity and religious sculptures and art forms of both the Gothic and Renaissance periods, particularly angels and angelic forms. My works are predominantly hand-built and the decoration is applied in a wet/damp state. The pieces are pared and burnished with a metal burnishing tool, with sgraffito and markings applied.
Glazing techniques include the application of multiple glaze layers and oxides applied in a painterly manner, or the decoration sometimes is washed back and scraped or the oxide is dripped.
