My work is inspired by marine forms, fossils and bones. It stretches the possibilities of entirely hand-built, high-fired porcelain. Wall pieces comprise collections of paper-thin delicate rays and squid-like sculpture shoals assembled in bespoke translucent perspex box frames. I am concerned with the fragility of the marine environment, and the fragility of my assembled invented sea creatures references that. Pinch bowls are made in either speckled iron-spot stoneware or porcelain with glass and lustres. I have recently used Parian porcelain to make large free-standing white funghi sculptures.
