Welcome to all the new subscribers to the newsletter, we aim to send quarterly with news of London Potters events and exhibitions. If you would like to join as a member for many benefits (see website) and take part in any of the events as a potter or enthusiast then please visit our website.  It’s easy, costs £26 per year and you become part of a supportive community of potters, teachers, collectors, gallery owners and general ceramic lovers.  You do not have to be a potter or live in London – any one can join.  It’s down to earth!

We just wrapped magnificently our latest event of the season with our selected members show at Handmade Chelsea, 7-9th November featured 12 of our members in a dedicated London Potters space. See more via our Instagram account.

And, our much anticipated open Annual Members Exhibition at Morley Gallery will showcase the work of 120 makers exhibiting and selling three pieces each to celebrate their own individual and diverse styles. The exhibition is free to attend and open 27 November – 7 December. Opening times are 12–5 pm Monday to Friday and 1–5 pm on Saturdays.

What we have been up to recently…

In the summer we held a glaze making workshop with Linda Bloomfield in August at Cernamic in Stoke Newington and a group of LP members participated in an Anagama wood firing at Oxford University Kilns in Wytham woods with Robin Wilson in September.

In October, we were fortunate to hold our Annual General Meeting again at the Museum of the Home with guest speaker Lisa Hammond talking about her clay journey and demonstrator Roberto Gagliano sharing his skills to throw large vessels. We were very proud to announce the Annual Makers Award, with two awards given, one to an emerging maker, Sarah Coppard, and one to an established maker, Miae Kim. Being inclusive and able to support our members at different stages in their practice is very important to us as a charity organisation.

We also recently experienced an exciting collaboration with the London Sogetsu School of Ikebana, creating live installations of Japanese flower arrangements with a group of our members and president Richard Miller.

We have seen our membership grow over the years, especially with digital applications being developed to reach a wider audience.

All council members work on behalf of LP voluntarily, to give back to the ceramic community and to support LP members and those interested, to come together and share knowledge, skills and experiences. Ceramics we are glad to see is thriving and the importance of handmade is ever growing.

With the Christmas season fast approaching please do support us and our community by visiting open studios, fairs and events, it would be very much appreciated. Regular info on our website and via instagram. The latest events for Autumn and Winter 2024 are on this link.

If you have suggestions for future events, exhibitions or wish to volunteer please don’t hesitate to get in touch too, we would be very pleased to hear from you.

Seasons greetings from us all at London Potters’
