Sharpen Your Turning Tools Workshop with Rei Raz
February 22 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm£27.00 – £30.00
This is a practical workshop, led by Rei Raz, where you will be able to learn to sharpen your tools and test them on leather hard pieces.
By the end of the workshop you will gain some understanding of tool design and edge geometry, and hands-on experience in sharpening one of your turning tools using hand tools – metal files and abrasives.
Every participant should bring some turning tools they want to sharpen and some leather hard pieces of work to test turning tools on. Sharpening tools will be provided such as metal file, clamp and sharpie. However if you wish to bring your own, the instructor will forward you a list closer to the workshop date.
The workshop involves 10 – 15 minutes of theory, 10 minutes demonstration and then a guided hands-on session including guidance tips.
About the instructor: Rei Raz is a materials engineer and a man of many hobbies (including cooking, knifemaking, woodworking, spoon carving, flintknapping and even pottery). Rei is happy to implement his knowledge into the very specific topic of sharpening turning tools for ease of use, improved performance and the ability to extend tool life and modify tools for specific tasks.
