Path and Inspiration
Starting at the Camden Arts Centre in London, I discovered the tactile pleasures of hand-building in clay by exploring organic shapes in nature. My journey continued with a residency at Driving Creek Pottery in Aotearoa New Zealand, where I worked with wild clays and sold my pieces at Wonder Journal in Auckland, before returning to London, where I am now based. My inspirations are more eastern than western and my pieces are designed to be touched and held.Process and Practice
As a handbuilder, I want to make pieces that are shaped by my fingertips and the palms of my hands, and which can be used and enjoyed in everyday life - vases, bowls, mugs, plates. I enjoy the chances and surprises of smoke firing and wood firing, of clays and glazes that are unstable and temperamental.
