Path and Inspiration
Ama draws inspiration from here Ghanaian heritage and British upbringing. Her forms represent everyday pathways back home interwoven with modernity and cultural narrative.Process and Practice
Ama's practice consists of two strands; sculptural artworks and design products. For her sculptural artworks, she primarily hand carve my pieces using an ancient Japanese carving processes called ‘Kurinuki’. These works also explore the textural essence of the clay and form and are sometimes functional, sometimes non-functional. For her design products, she maks functional table tableware that is more refined in texture to allow the forms to articulate their identity.
