Path and Inspiration Anastassia is a sculptural ceramic artist based in Manchester, UK. Originally from Russia, her family relocated to Canada when she was 6 years old. This was where she was first introduced to clay. As an adult she took a detour away from ceramics but reconnected with the medium in 2018.Anastassia is currently working towards an MA in Art Psychotherapy. Her studies have had a profound influence on her work, which now rests on the meeting point of art and art therapy.
Process and Practice For me, the draw of clay is its innate ability to connect us to our unconscious and past experiences of touch. I use clay to explore my inner world as well as our collective unconscious, making the work deeply personal yet relatable. The sculptures depict people, beings and creatures that exist somewhere beyond the conscious realm.
