Path and Inspiration
I worked in Higher Education for many years as a psychotherapist and teacher. When I significantly reduced my hours in my early 60's I decided to try pottery. It was something I had thought about for some time and I had always been drawn to ceramics - admiring pieces whether at exhibitions or in specialist shops. As I had never studied any art based courses I was enthusiastic but very unsure how I would get on with the creative process of pottery.Process and Practice
I did an introductory course at Cit Lit and subsequently attended courses at Richmond College and some weekend courses at West Dean College. I was also delighted to find Hanwell Pottery in my area and I have been attending a weekly workshop there for some years. Here I am able to experiment and receive encouragement and tuition as I develope my work. In the last few years I have become more interested in handbuilding, an interest I developed working at home during [pandemic lockdowns.
