Path and Inspiration

I am inspired by seed pods and organic forms and textures. The majority of my work is constructed by throwing repeat forms which I then join and carve texture into. Larger stoneware pods house small delicate porcelain seeds. I decorate using coloured slips and satin glazes and polish the porcelain palm sized pieces to make them more tactile

Process and Practice

I start off my making process by handbuilding multiple maquettes. From these I develop the next phase which is mainly thrown and and altered. I always allow my work to dry out thoroughly before the initial bisque firing as my work has many joins and enclosed sections. I decorate using coloured slips and satin and dolomite glazes.
