Path and Inspiration
Making objects by hand, drawing and playing musical instruments have been really important to me since childhood. I formalised the 'making' studying ceramics part time, obtaining "Professional Development Diploma, Fine Art Ceramics".
My most recent body of work is a family of slipcast bone china vessels know as "Crumples". These reflect my interest in natural form and colour vibrancy.
Inspirations are nature and music, with especial reference to plant growth, sea life and pattern in music.Process and Practice
Slipcasting with bone china and porcelain. I make my own plaster moulds. Focusing on families of work I explore colour vibrancy, testing single colour, colour overlays using stains and glazes.
I enjoy working to commission, especially making porcelain music scores, examples are on my website.
Commissioned work is developed through discussion, research and my sketchbooks.
Work is in private collections both in the UK and abroad.
