Path and Inspiration
I’m a Chilean-Argentinian ceramicist who has made Margate my home.
I started doing pottery 3 years ago.I combine my interests in art, interior design, architecture, maths and geometry to explore and construct shapes, mostly spheres & cones. Some of my pots have been inspired by Margate’s Lido beacon which I admire on my daily walks along the cliff tops. I’ve made a series of vases of various sizes using the geometric shape of this iconic landmark’s orange light.Process and Practice
My work is slab-built using black stoneware clay. I love contrasts and this clay provides me with a dark surface to work on.I explore symmetry and asymmetry, constructing shapes – particularly spheres and cones. Then I play on the surface with flat paralleled straight lines. Placing these on curved shapes produces different and exciting results. The combination of geometric forms and lines provides me with infinite possibilities to create unique pieces.I also make mugs. Stripy ones.
