Path and Inspiration
I make both functional and decorative ceramic pieces from a humble pottery wheel, with specifics on clean and simple forms. I am exploring the idea of adding texture and decoration to my pieces which are inspired from nature as well as colour. I am looking to explore more on decorative techniques which incorporate using slips and sgraffito, if not carving in general.Process and Practice
Using both stoneware and porcelain clay, my pieces focus on clean shapes with simple glazes; and a growing interest in surface decoration and texture with oxides and underglazes. I mainly focus on throwing on the wheel, but am exploring aspects of handbuilding also.
