Path and Inspiration
I became interested in ceramics whilst working as a portrait sculptor at Mme Tussauds. I did a part time ceramics and drawing course at City Lit. I went on the run a pottery in Clapham teaching adults and children in return for studio space. This gave me the opportunity to build a body of work to exhibit. I now work from home in South London. My inspiration comes from the sculptural qualities of anatomy and the making process itself.Process and Practice
I have developed a technique of working with a single sheet of clay over a paper former.
I respond to how the clay falls and folds and aim to capture the essence of the animal. I experiment with Nerikomi; Raku and Smoke firing, all of which are very unpredictable.
