Path and Inspiration
I am a painter who needed new surfaces to explore and play on. I started with simple hand built pots and am now also making on a wheel. Using underglaze, slips and layers of brush on glazes as I would paint, is exciting. Endless possibilities.Process and Practice
Having no formal training in ceramics has meant lots of experimenting, constant surprises and inevitable disasters. What happens if I....... has been my philosophy - dried flakes of coloured slip accidentally embedded in some slabbed black clay become like magical blue stars. I work in a garden shed, influenced by the collections of objects, fabrics and art works that plaster the walls.
