Path and Inspiration
I studied pottery at Eastbourne Art College in the 1970s. I loved earthenware and Sussex Slipware.
In the early 80s myself and others founded the Neo Naturists performance art group. We painted bodies, to create performances, challenging narratives of the time. Pottery slipped in and out of my life until 2005. Since then I've been decorating bodies of pots and humans, documenting my performances, life, wonderings and wanderings, connecting pots and people. I explore the magic within the mundaneProcess and Practice
I still make earthenware pots and decorate them with slip. I also use ceramic transfers.
Sometimes using photos from the Neo Naturist archive, sometimes, found transfers and sometimes new photos of mine. I throw beakers, tumblers and plates, roll out thin clay and break off shards to make into brooches. Very occasionally I make a bigger pieces, jugs, urns, either thrown or coiled and stretched.
I write words on my work.
