Path and Inspiration
I came back to ceramics after many years, to find that I still love to have my hands in clay.
My inspiration is wide, the archaic and ancient; landscape, journeys, dreams and the ordinariness of the everyday object. I aim to create and simplify timeless themes; fragmented narratives while also making objects that can have a use.Process and Practice
I make hand built, one-off pieces. I enjoy experimenting with the sheer materiality of the medium, exploring the possibilities of colour, texture and form. Working mainly in stoneware, using different clays, coloured slips, underglazes, mark making and oxides, I usually start with an idea in mind but allow a certain amount of spontaneity to happen on the journey.
The process is full of surprises, some disappointments, but always with new things to learn.
