Path and Inspiration
The environment, nature and natural diversity, stopping global warming, protesting pollution on earth and in the oceans, looking for green energy over fossil fuel extraction, supporting re-wilding, protesting habitat loss:- all this and supporting all developments for a better, safer, healthier planet, are what drives me to create the work I make.
Process and Practice
I trained as a carver of wood and stone but after living in Cornwall, for ten years, and becoming a member of 'The Cornish Ceramic and Glass Guild', I have learnt to love clay - both stoneware and porcelain - also the casting and slumping of glass. Consequently the work I now make is often 'mixed media' ceramic with parts wood or stone, or more frequently I now work in ceramic and glass. I do also make entirely ceramic sculptures, 3D or wall hung.. I enjoy Raku, and pit firing.
