Path and Inspiration
Growing up in rural Lincolnshire, I spent time on my uncle's farm. One vivid memory I have is handling and being fascinated by so called "pot eggs" which were strategically placed to encourage hens to lay eggs in specific places. This memory is reflected in my work today. After school, I studied art and crafts at Lincoln School of Art followed by the Central School of Arts and Crafts, specialising in ceramics. This was followed by teaching, tutoring and lecturing ceramics to B.Ed level.Process and Practice
The work is mainly based on eggs thrown and moulded using a white earthenware body, underglazes, glazes, slips, ceramic transfers and gold lustre, fired to 1060C. I work in a shared studio.
