Path and Inspiration
My inspiration is anything that catches my eye really. Anything I can use to make impressions in my clay from model motor bikes to silver forks, feathers, Chinese chops, buttons, any old iron.Process and Practice
I use mostly porcelain and flax porcelain clay. But I also like heavy cranked clay as balance to that. Using my own plaster moulds, I press clay into or onto them forming a smooth outer or inner surface and a delicately lined surface where the pieces of clay merge. I add extruded spaghetti of various shapes or make decorative impressions using anything that comes to hand. I use stains and occasional transparent glaze to achieve a watercolour effect. I have recently begun slip casting.
