Path and Inspiration
I have been working as a professional artist since graduating in 1984. I have a large number of private collectors, public commissions and have exhibited in a number of private galleries.
Since childhood, I have had a fascination with the esoteric and spiritual elements of life based upon my profound and personal experiences with auras and energies, which include visions, dreams and physical manifestations. I am inspired by the primitive forms of antiquity as well as religious sculpture.
Process and Practice
My practice is from a multi disciplinary perspective. My hand built work crosses boundaries & includes techniques taken from sculpture, printmaking and painting which adds to the complexity and texture of all my works.
My hand-built pieces are inspired mainly by mythical forms. They are adorned with various markings, glazes & oxides, then exposed to the magical elements of intense heat and flames during the raku process & quenched producing exciting and unpredictable magical unique results.
