Path and Inspiration
I am an Italian living and working in London. I work full time as a data analyst and make ceramics in my spare time. I combine my love for ceramics with my interest in surface decoration: from painting on porcelain, to raku and saggar firing, to water etching, I unleash my creativity on the surface of vases and bowls.
I am inspired by my Italian origins and by a variety of everyday sources.Process and Practice
I prefer to use porcelain and Hashraf Hanna clay, very white clays which I use like canvases. I mainly throw on the wheel, but also handbuild when I'm tired of round things. I use underglazes to paint on porcelain bowls, and have recently been making geometric drawings which I then transfer and paint on porcelain platters. I trim my porcelain very thin, which becomes translucent when high fired: when you hold it, you can see your fingers through it, and you become part of the story.
