Path and Inspiration
Ghaz is a Malaysian/Thai ceramicist based in London whose unique journey into the world of ceramics began with fashion. Studying initially in Kuala Lumpur, and later in London at the Central School of Fashion, Ghaz enjoyed a successful career in fashion design, with a focus on eveningwear. His background in fashion, and especially his love of colour and form, provided a natural progression into decorative and functional ceramics. Ghaz’s studio is at Wimbledon Art Studios in South London.Process and Practice
Combining inspiration from his Asian roots, the natural world, and his background in fashion, Ghaz creates contemporary and stylish functional pieces, either one-off or in limited themed collections, either by throwing on the wheel or building by hand. He also explores alternative firing methods of (raku and pit-firing) to create purely decorative pieces. Ghaz's work has been showcased in various exhibitions and galleries and has been sought after by collectors worldwide.
