Path and Inspiration
I am inspired by the beauty of flowers and plants. Gardening is my second passion, and I frequently visit Kew Garden where I visually pick up leaf shapes, seed pods, and hues of green, purple and colour contrasts. These are the inspirations for my textures and glazes.
Trips to China and Korea have influenced a series of bud vases, carved and incised with floral motifs, and tall cylindrical shapes and moonjars containers.Process and Practice
Porcelain is my primary and main choice, I find its whiteness and translucency congenial. Although not an easy-to-handle material, I have learned its limitations, and I enjoy its creamy feel in throwing and slipcasting. All my pieces are unique, although, for practicality, I tend to work in series.
I bisque-fire my pieces at 985C and glaze fire at 1240C
I have a studio at Redlees Artists Studio, Isleworth TW7 6DW
