Path and Inspiration
My work includes decorative, sculptural and functional pieces. My sculptural work is often conceptual addressing social and economic trends, and issues of identity and belonging. I also have an interest in collections of objects that have been discarded or become obsolete and endeavour to incorporate them in my work. A functional range of Sushi platters was born from a commission and inspired by the importance of place, people, and sharing meals, to our wellbeing.Process and Practice
I typically uses hand building techniques including slab building, slip casting and sprigging and pinching in stoneware or porcelain depending on the objective of a piece. Decoration can be pared back to focus on surface texture or can be built-up in layers using underglaze colours, glazes, decals, and lustres. I also make a range of ceramic buttons with a wide variety of surface textures.
