Path and Inspiration
My work varies as I create a new body of work to suit the exhibition space that I apply to, a sculpture show, gallery or Christmas market! I love insulations, also I like to up cycle nostalgic old tools or find rough ol' boxes and up cycle them with some ceramic 'story' one can dip in and out of. I was taught by a production pottery near Tenby, Wales as a family after-school for a few years we learnt to throw at 12 yrs old! In my 20's classes were filled with 70yr olds, it's so changed now!!Process and Practice
I use a huge variety of clay. One day fine white porcelain on the wheel then the next knarley chunky black clay for sculpting teapots and blackbirds for my mini installations. I have an electric kiln but wish I had a gas so I play with glazing techniques to create more lively glazing with flashing stains and wax resist and multiple firings. I often single fire just my stoneware pumpkins.
