Path and Inspiration
I was making brightly-coloured earthenware bowls for many years until I developed cysts in my wrists so now I am using porcelain as it is softer and I am making small hand-built pots with thrown elements intended to sit on a mantelpiece or shelf and occasionally although not necessarily to hold flowers.Process and Practice
I work instinctively and playfully with the clay sometimes starting with a thrown pot which I then break, tear and add to. I like to develop interesting surface marks and to keep a freshness to the edges. I like a smooth matt glaze with a frosty look and some elements that look like weathered paint so I often fire several times.
