Path and Inspiration
Jennifer was brought up ‘potting’ with her grandmother. Many happy hours were spent creating anything from clay animals to wheelthrown bowls and it was here where her love for ceramics was born.
Appearing on The Great Pottery Throw Down pushed Jennifer's practice and she now incorporates many more hand built elements inspired by her love of nature. She uses muted matte and satin glazes as well as the occasional pop of colour.Process and Practice
Jennifer loves the magical alchemy of woodfiring but also the very controlled process of electric firing. Her work uses these two contrasting processes to create unique pieces. She believes that perfection lies in a piece being clearly handmade; a piece with throwing lines evident so you can see where the potter has nurtured the lump of clay into its final form; flowing glazes which intermingle in a way which is down to the magic of chemistry and which can not be exactly replicated.
