Path and Inspiration
I worked as an Occupational Therapist for 50 years with a few breaks to bring up my 3 children. During this time I attended many adult education centres in Bury Manchester, Leeds and Newcastle where I gained a diploma in Ceramics. Pottery has always been my therapy enabling my creative side to emarge and I always find it very grounding. My inspiration comes from nature and my surroundings, the sea, woods, buildings, candles which I sketch then create patterns from and my love of colour.Process and Practice
I make my pieces either my throwing, handbuilding through coils or slabs. I see my work as a canvas to paint on to depict my designs taken from nature and my surroundings. I draw with pencil on the piece then handpaint using underglazes then cover with clear transparent glaze. Each piece is individual.
