Path and Inspiration
I am inspired by the literature and ceramics of pre-Renaissance Britain, taking particular interest in ecclesiastic artworks of the era. By centering idealism over realistic depiction in my forms, I create ceramic artworks which explore how the themes of faith, truth and paradise are expressed creatively from 12th century Europe to the modern day.Process and Practice
My practice spans throwing, casting, hand building and glaze making. A fascination with history and chemistry makes me obsessed with discovering historic glazes and recipes and recreating them, adding new layers of narrative to my work. I have recently begun to experiment with using a jigger – jolly to create functional works, and I’m excited to see where this takes me.
