Path and Inspiration
I enjoy making ceramics and like to have a free and fluid attitude to it often working intuitively without limits on the theme or style. I make most of my own work at my kitchen table and I also make commissioned work in a community studio where I thrive on the mutual creative support with the other artists and potters; discussing and sharing ideas and skills is a fundamental part of my process and helps broaden my practice.
Process and Practice
I sometimes draw upon past Printmaking studies by printing onto clay using lino plates and by using underglaze as ink. I'm excited if I'm learning a new technique or other. This is both challenging and stimulating as I wonder a lot about the sources of my ideas throughout the making and then I tune into my feelings which often are revealed in the final piece. I imagine these are my subconscious feelings breaking through in a daydream like way but that's another story...
