Path and Inspiration
My work often begins with a walk along the coastline or through the countryside collecting plants and organic materials that later help shape the surfaces of my vessels. I’m drawn to the unpredictability of these elements and how they can create subtle, layered, and abstract effects during the fuming process. Each piece is wheel-thrown in white stoneware or semi-porcelain, then carefully burnished while preserving the soft traces of the making process.Process and Practice
Nature its patterns, textures, and ephemerality lies at the heart of my work. Organic materials collected during walks along the Cornish coastline and countryside are used to create distinctive, one-of-a-kind surfaces. These elements are not intended to be clearly identifiable, but instead contribute to abstracted, layered finishes that speak to the unpredictable beauty of the natural world.
