Path and Inspiration
I first tried throwing on a potter’s wheel over 10 years ago, and loved it instantly. Due to other life priorities I wasn’t able to pursue pottery at the time. After covid I enrolled into a weekly evening ceramics workshop, which quickly became my happy place, my inspiration, my dream, my escape from the stressful day-to-day. In 2023 I have joined a lovely community of potters at the Turning Earth and haven’t looked back! I seek my inspiration primarily in Japanese, Korean and Chinese ceramicsProcess and Practice
Over time I have tried many different techniques but wheel- throwing has become a firm favourite. I make every day functional and decorative pieces influenced by Japanese, Korean and Chinese ceramics. I naturally lean towards simple, precise lines and minimalist finish however i continue experimenting! I find symmetry and uniformity beautiful and I often challenge myself making sets of identical objects. At the moment I am working on a series of moonjars and experimenting with sizes and surfaces
