Path and Inspiration
I first explored clay as a creative medium after becoming ill and needing space to slow down, become more grounded and reconnect with myself. For many years I\'ve worked as a transformational therapist and coach working with mindset, mindfulness and creative flow, and so bring this into my work with ceramics, allowing intuition to guide me, and for the piece to form itself in my hands as I\'m making.
Process and Practice
I\'m largely inspired by textures of the earth - sand, rock, water, dust and the perfect imperfection that we see in the natural world. Although every now and again I play with wheel throwing, I am a handbuilder as I love the slow connection this gives to the clay and the creation that comes from it. Often I leave the piece unglazed as I\'m interested in the response we feel in direct relationship to the raw material, and in the play of light with something that is just left to be as it is.
