Path and Inspiration
I trained in Theatre Design at Central Saint Martins & have worked in creative roles from stage & TV design to graphics.Working with clay has allowed me to explore my love of pattern, mark-making & colour. I am particularly interested in how pattern works on a 3D shape & working my design around a form. I am inspired by the bold design and colours of mid-century design and the rhythm & repetition of the natural world. Each pot is different but all have a common language.Process and Practice
I begin by either throwing, coil building or casting with a press mold.I build classic shapes to lay my designs across, using slip, underglaze & mark-making, each shape determines the design but I am currently using a cast mold to create a repeated shape so I can explore different patterns & designs across the same form.
