Path and Inspiration
On graduating from Surrey Institute of Art and Design where I studied as a mature student, I spent many years working in the education sector. Whilst sharing my passion for pottery I learned new skills, as I explored materials and techniques that would help students to complete their projects. On relocating to Devon I set up London House Gallery & studio, where I continue to make, teach and sell ceramics.Process and Practice
I have always been drawn to the sea and continue to create work inspired by the colours and textures of Devon’s coastline. Whilst my work is always hand built, I use a variety of techniques and clays to create the textures and tactile qualities that are so important to the finished pieces. Shoreline rims, Mishima inlay detail, piercing and sprig formed sea foam foot rings are signature features of my shell inspired dishes.
