Path and Inspiration
Art has always been my passion. I studied history of art at the Courtauld Institute and ceramics at the Institute of Education under William Newland. After many years of teaching both art history and pottery, I am now a full-time potter, with a studio attached to my house.Process and Practice
All my pots are thrown on the wheel using stoneware clay. They are then fired twice, with the second firing reaching 1265*C. This high temperature means that the work is strong, dishwasher and microwave safe. The pots are incised with the initials M T B. This logo can be found listed under my name in the first edition of British Studio Potters’ Marks and subsequent editions. The distinctive style of my large platters has received international recognition and has been included in Lark books.
