Path and Inspiration
Moving on from my career as a special needs ICT Teacher, I have reverted to my first love of 3D art, focussing on ceramics. Not wishing to be entirely limited to one media, I often incorporate textiles, wire, or bead work into my overall finished pieces. My inspiration can be found in down-at-heel Victoriana, cabaret and music hall, the FAE, and my own mythical world, Blinksville. My current series of pieces focus on the distinctive form of court jesters.Process and Practice
Within ceramics, I mainly work with slabs or hand building, I will occasionally try my hand at throwing when the need arises. My work encompasses several clay bodies, but for the most part, I use stoneware or terracotta. For surface design and finish, I prefer monochromes or brightly coloured gloss glazes for table ware, leaving terracotta unglazed.
