Path and Inspiration
I gained a fine art degree at the College of Art in Delhi, India with a specialisation in sculpture. After relocating to London in the early 2000s I concentrated on expanding my knowledge in pottery by attending various courses from well known potters. I have set up an independent studio since 2014, and have exhibited at various craft fairs since then.Process and Practice
My work is functional and decorative, wheel thrown in earthenware clays. The dark iron rich clay captivated me towards earthenware. I was drawn to it for its liveliness and contrast of colours! My making tends to be more precise with clean lines, whilst the decorations using slip is usually loser and more spontaneous. I specially enjoy slip trailing and sgraffito - something I constantly try to get better at!
