Path and Inspiration
I trained at Eastbourne College of Education and the Chelsea School of Art.
I have exhibited in local galleries in the Richmond and Twickenham area, The Affordable Art Fair (Battersea) and at Earth and Fire, Nottingham.
I spent 40 years teaching ceramics in schools and colleges, now retired, I work from my studio on Eel Pie Island amongst a community of other artists where we have Open Studio's
twice a year.Process and Practice
My work is mainly sculptural Raku, but also some terracotta slipware. Both of these disciplines allow for experimentation and spontaneous expression due to a certain amount of unpredictability, which adds a unique quality to every piece .
The shapes have evolved from working with soft slabs of clay, torn and often combined with thrown forms a method which allows for flexible designs.
