Path and Inspiration
Initial inspiration was significantly from the potteries of Stoke on Trent. The shape of the bottle kilns for form and the exploitation of the workers for moral inspiration. The latter isn't obvious to an observer of the work but had a big impact on my artistic development. Time has passed and my facilities have changed over the years and so has my work, but those influences are still there in the background.Process and Practice
I used lightly mixed clays, perhaps 50% from the reclaim bucket with all its surprises and the rest more carefully chosen clays. I may add a colouring oxide to one. This is thrown and turned and I might then add some paper clay. After bisque firing I use a clear glaze and sometimes a coloured glaze in areas for the glaze firing. Every piece is unique.
