Path and Inspiration
Purple Pots is the brand name of ceramist Caroline Forwood. Based in Walthamstow, East London, Caroline creates wheel thrown as well as hand-built ceramics from functional tablewares, kitchenwares to decorative objets d’art. Her work is greatly inspired by her years of backpacking around the globe and working as a doctor for MSF in Asia."I was immersed in the local culture where handmade pottery is very much an integral part of daily life. This is where the main influence for my work lies."Process and Practice
Inspired by her travels and the cultures she has lived within, especially working in Asia, Caroline makes small batches of functional ceramics and one off decorative pieces employing both wheel throwing and hand building techniques. She works out of her quiet corner of the small ceramics studio she shares with fellow The Quiet Corner and Clay Habitat co-founder Wardi at Hazelwood Grove, Sanderstead.
