Path and Inspiration
Rachel Hampson Ceramics was born out of my love of making ceramics and for the purpose of selling my wares.
Originating from the Staffordshire Moorlands, I grew up close to the Potteries with family connections to the pottery industry. My love of pottery and throwing skills were firmly established through attending Ricky Grimes Ceramics studio in London over 6 years ago. I joined the Turning Earth studio in Tottenham in January 2022 from which I make my pots.Process and Practice
My focus is wheel thrown functional tableware in stoneware that is good to look at and enjoyable to use. The tableware is thrown on the potters wheel and decorated using various glazes. I use different types of clay primarily white stoneware and oxidising st thomas and I love to create different forms and shapes When I'm not throwing in the studio I work as a technician at Turning Earth in North London.
