Path and Inspiration
I am a ceramic artist and teach making decorative functional and none functional items. I initially drew inspiration from traditional cooking pots, and subsequently developed my craft in contemporary style. I make individual, exquisite pieces such as: platters, bowls, vases, jugs and water decanters. Through my experience I developed a series of unique interpretations of traditional forms in contemporary style imparting sympathetic embellishment and colour to create noticeable works of art.Process and Practice
I produce wheel thrown and hand built vessels and platters.
I have developed a unique decorating process which involves drawing the patterns and screen printing images onto the unfired glazed surface. I use body stains and oxides for decorating the pieces, sometimes followed by a lustre firing. I work with stoneware and porcelain clays and fire in an electric kiln.
