Path and Inspiration
My work is sculptural, playful and quirky. Its aim is to be thought provoking and joyful. I sense other worlds just beyond our reach and try to capture something of their essence and give each piece a unique personality.
Working with clay gives me a feeling of creating something from nothing, giving “mud” form and purpose. Ceramics have longevity that few materials can claim; most ancient artefacts have either disintegrated or been disassembled for raw materials – but the pots remain.Process and Practice
I had a successful career in engineering and commerce. Always interested in art, a few years ago and for no apparent reason I became obsessed with ceramics and sculpture. So, I gave up work and did a Ceramics HND at Morley College (2022) and now spend my days working in a studio.
My work is all hand-built, carved, constructed from slip-cast components or slabs. Having a scientific background, I am constantly experiment with form and technique, and am intrigued by geometric shapes.
