Path and Inspiration
After graduating from Edinburgh art school with a degree in fine art sculpture, I went on to apply for a masters in ceramics during lockdown 2020. By witnessing the world in chaos I realised what I already knew deep inside, that I needed to reconnect with my creativity.Clay gave me the opportunity to ground myself and my practice into something more meaningful and granted me the space I needed to explore all the possibilities that ceramics provided.Process and Practice
Hand thrown functional tableware as well as contemporary vessels. Predominately working with a flecked iron rich stoneware and gas fired. The “Broken Chain” reflects the duality of strength and fragility by exploring feelings surrounding grief and family bonds. Specifically inspired by poem called “The Broken Chain”. With one link to another the works allow contemplation of life’s entanglements and intricacies whilst appearing strong and resilient they hold a trace of inherent fragility.
